Four Golden Kaan Wines Awarded
May 2009
Four Golden Kaan wines received high recognition for their quality at the renowned Decanter World Wine Awards 2009. Two wines from the Classic range and the Private Collection Cabernet Sauvignon were especially recommended, and the Private Collection Chardonnay received a Bronze Medal.
Within the Classic range portfolio, the jury recommended Golden Kaan Shiraz and Chenin Blanc. A Bronze Medal was given to the Private Collection Chardonnay 2007, and the Private Collection Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 received a recommendation as well.
Golden Kaan Private Collection Chardonnay has already been recognized with awards in numerous international competitions in the past: It embodies ripe fruit and oak flavours, which integrate well with complex citrus, pear, peach, and woody flavours that add depth and dimension. It is an elegant wine with creamy texture, which holds its fruitiness through to the finish, ending on a clean, crisp note.
In 2009, the Decanter World Wine Awards attracted more entries than any other wine competition in the world, cementing its position as the world's biggest wine competition. In total 10,285 wines were entered. The number of companies submitting wines increased by 23% to 2,240.
To head the various tasting panels, the magazine enlisted some of the world’s most respected experts. Each was chosen for in-depth knowledge of a specific area, a thorough understanding of style, and for recognising outstanding quality.
The results of the competition were announced to the wine trade at the London Wine Trade Fair from May 12th-14th.
