Silver at the Chardonnay du Monde, France
March 2009
The 2007 Golden Kaan Private Collection Chardonnay has won a silver medal at the ”Chardonnay du Monde”, one of the most prestigious competitions for Chardonnay wines in the world.
The rich, creamy texture of the Private Collection Chardonnay has already won many international medals and accolades for its outstanding quality. Previous to this new silver medal, it had won gold at the Veritas Awards, the longest running and most prestigious wine competition in South Africa and received 4 stars (excellent) in the 2009 Platter Guide.
The wine embodies ripe fruit and oak flavours, which are well integrated with complex citrus, pear, peach, and woody flavours that add depth and dimension.
The 16th annual Chardonnay du Monde® wine competition was held March 11-14, 2009 at Château des Ravatys, the wine estate of the Pasteur Institute at Saint-Lager in Burgundy/France.
923 premium Chardonnays from 37 countries were submitted at this competition of the World’s best Chardonnay wines, and the international jury awarded 307 medals.
Generally, South African wines reaffirmed their good results from the previous years and achieved a large number of gold and silver medals.
